ALL IS QUIET ON NEW YEAR'S DAY...

The clock has ticked.

2023 has been consinged to the history books.

We are now living in the future...2024 !!!

Hope you all had a great festive season - sorry its been a bit quiet round here but I've had lots of festive frolics to engage in. Still, thats all more or less done with now that we've all arrived at the MASSIVE anti-climax that is always January the First.

So, with that in mind - let us look to the future as I give you a brief heads-up of what will be coming your way in the early part of 2024.

For the next week or so we're going to be clearing out the Christmas leftovers - there's still a few vaguely festive reviews that I've made notes on and have yet to write up, so you'll be seeing these over the next few entries. After that...it's pretty much going to be anything go's.

Tales From The Backroom is going to be going back to basics - we had the Summer Of Sci-Fi, we went full on horror for Halloween, We celebrated Doctor Who's birthday and then we explored the darker side of Christmas. So from Mid-january onwards I'm going to be covering not just horror and Sci-fi but also I'm going to be going back to reviewing some good old fashioned exploitation movies as well.

Long time readers will remember that's pretty much how the blog was in it's early days, so as we head towards Tales From The Backroom's first birthday I thought this would be as good a time as any to go a bit more multi-genre again.

Of course, times change and blogs evolve so things aren't going to be exactly as they where in the early days. To be honest with you, I find it hard to go back and read some of those early posts now - they seem a bit scrappy and unfocused. At the time I was still learning and I wasn't always one hundred percent sure what tone I was going for - was it outright ridiculing cheesy movies or was it going to be more serious than that ? I think I've (hopefully) found a more consistent tone these days.

So - readers old and new bear with me because once the last of the turkey's been eaten we're going to be deep diving once more into the realms of Horror, Sci-Fi and Exploitation movies with a liberal dash of Cult TV and nostalgia thrown into the mix as well.

Happy New Year.
